Sandal Wearing Do's & Dont's

Guy In Sandals - How To Do It Right

It's funny how some of the smaller and more Emergency Food Supply  trivial things in life become such a dj mixers topic of discussion. Case and point is the matter of HOW a man should wear sandals and even IF he should be wearing them at all. Many men are rather unfamiliar with the experience and make common mistakes when wearing them. Sandals are an awesome piece of footwear, they give your feet more freedom and breathability in hot weather and some even claim that they make you feel "at home" no matter where you go.

In previous years the debate of whether a man should even buy mens sandals at all had been raised, but that argument was raised by people who didn't know any better and we need not pay them any mind at this moment. Sandals are often rather handsome, relaxing and cool (literally and figuratively), but unfortunately they also can be worn in the wrong way and cause the wearer to look silly. Contrary to former beliefs that it was the design of this type of footwear that caused the problem, but it's because this type of footwear is not as commonly worn as something like sneakers for instance. Therefore the unfamiliarity with sandals made for more common mistakes in wearing them as far as fashion is concerned. Both men and women who have excellent taste and are great dressers have had some questions in regards to how to properly pull off the look of wearing sandals. Thankfully for you, we have compiled a valuable list of do's and dont's that you can quickly read and remember and have no problem at all donning your reef sandals on vacation or at home. Use them to get your summer wardrobe right from head to toe.

1. No mis-matching: Many times because sandals are seen as purely leisurely, people throw caution to the wind and don't care what color of reef sandal that they buy and wear. This is a big mistake. Anything you wear should match your outfits to some moderate degree. With this being the case you have two options, you can buy a pair of sandals that are of a neutral color and will likely match everything you wear with them or you can be a few different pairs in different colors.

2. Don't skimp on cost: Yeah, yeah we know. The dollar store has flip-flop 2 for a dollar with a 99 cent rebate and it sounds tempting. Guess what, you will waste more money on gas driving to pick up those raggedy sandals than they are actually worth. Quality sandals last long and offer true comfort, spend a few bucks and treat your feet right. Who else will? Pick up a nice pair of reef sandals.

3. Go barefoot always: Two words—No Socks. It’s just not flattering at all and so uncivilized. And being that you're going to be exposing those puppies, that lead s us to rule no.4...

4. Lotion up: If you’re headed out in your sandals, don't look like you just finished kicking a sack of flour around. Moisturize those feet and make them love as good as possible.

5. Loosen up a bit
: All in all, you should have fun and enjoy the feeling! Don't get too wound up over it, sandals are the footwear of warm weather and summertime. Forget the shoes completely on those vacations with plenty of sun and water. You can don this footwear even in the late evening. Just remember to pack a pair of dressier leather sandals to suit any impromptu event.

WHY ALL THE FUSS ABOUT MEN IN SANDALS?

There are just so many different viewpoint on the matter that it can made you head spin. Some folks reason that it's absolutely fine to wear sandals because the “manliest men” on earth wore them like Roman gladiators, African kings… even Jesus. But at the very same time some other people look at men in sandals as funny looking or even feminine.

Many of your "GQ" types of mens fashion mags often bypass any discussion of men wearing sandals and if they ever do mention sandals on men it's usually some type of negative remark about their level of fashion. Some believe that a mans feet should never be seen and that it is not becoming of a gentlemen.

With all of that being said, plenty of well dressed all over the world have successfully donned sandals with everything on from shorts to summer suits and had women loving it.  So, now you might be wondering – what’s the final verdict, should I sport mens sandals or not?

The well-debated issue of men wearing sandals is simply a matter of the traditional versus the nontraditional. The well-dressed man who wants to abide by the so-called traditional roll of dressing does not likely bare his feet; in this man's case canvas lace-ups, loafers, decks shoes, and oxfords would all be  worn sockless if he is concerned about keeping his feet cool while enduring the heat. But those that thumb their nose at so-called "traditional" dress-etiquette for men find themselves enjoying true comfort in their sandals and even find a comfort level within themselves for not letting someone else tell them how to dress and what types of shoes to wear.

LET YOUR FEET BREATHE

We at this website are huge proponents of wearing sandals for the simple fact that they are ultimately comfortable in hot weather, we absolutely hate the feeling of 95 degrees outside and feeling like our feet are holding the heat of 3 suns because they are pent up inside of some stinking gym shoes. Socks no longer serve as socks but as sweat sponges and the pure funk at the end of the day when you take those shoes off is enough to call a press conference over in order to make a public apology. Dress shoes and sneakers contain heat and have never been known to provide anyone with a vacation-type of feeling. Sandals on the toher hand help yourfeet to feel the summers breeze and stay dry. This also allows a persons body to release pent up body heat and also make a quick transition into water activities. When trying to stay cool you will often want to be near or even in water, with sandals you don't need to worry about getting them wet because they are better-equipped to take a good soaking. Imagine yourself laying out at poolside with kids doing cannonballs into the pool near you, do you really want to be worried about footwear or do you just want to enjoy the moment? We are guessing that you just want be able to relax and even do a quick cannonball yourself if you get the sudden urge! These are all great reasons to consider buying reef sandals today!
